When fresh coffee beans are roasted they go through a process called degassing. In degassing process, roasted coffee beans emit considerable amount of CO2 over a period of time. Usually, coffee beans are not packaged right away after roasting process and are kept up to 14 days for the degassing process to complete. This makes coffee packaging process slow and also loses the freshness of the coffee beans. One-way valve has solved this problem and now coffee beans can be packaged right away after roasting. Following are the advantages of the valve in coffee bags.
Oxygen is a number one enemy of the coffee freshness. As the oxygen penetrates coffee beans after CO2 escapes, it degrades coffee freshness, flavor and aroma quickly. Our coffee bags with valve stop oxygen going into the bag. Only CO2 can come out because of its one-way vent that only allows the inside carbon dioxide to escape and prevents outside air from entering the bag.
As the roasted beans generate significant amount of CO2 over time, if freshly roasted beans are packaged directly into the bag without a valve, it will make the bag inflate and will burst over time due to gas buildup.
